ROOFTOPS TO GET LOST IN THE SKY OF MADRID

Madrid charms from any angle, but to see it from a different perspective we need to look for new spots — perhaps not so touristy or well-known, but original and fascinating to our eyes. Below you'll find a selection of the rooftops and terraces we recommend most, each one of a different style or function but all full of charm and magic. Because as the saying goes: "From Madrid to Heaven", and we can't ignore the fact that the rooftops of this city have a special soul and are capable of transporting us toward the farthest horizon of our dreams.

On the seventh floor of this great cultural space lies one of the best panoramic views of Madrid: the Paseo de la Castellana, the Palacio de Correos, the Puerta de Alcalá, the Gran Vía and Cibeles. All surrounded by an atmosphere full of tranquility, where you can go for a drink or simply enjoy the views and take photos. The rooftop is also crowned by a large bronze sculpture representing the goddess of Wisdom: Athena, or Minerva in the Roman world. Without a doubt, a place with charm that wraps around you.azotea_cba

Located in the geographical heart of Madrid par excellence — the fountain of the goddess Cibeles — sits the former Palacio de Telecomunicaciones, a building that encompasses every "neo-" style of the 20th century. Completely renovated, sharing a cultural center with offices of Madrid City Hall, it has at its top a beautiful terrace where you can grab a drink or simply enjoy all the buildings of Madrid from a giant's-eye view.

Sky Moncloa

Known as the "Poniente" terrace because of its westward orientation, it spans 300 square meters at the top of the Hotel Exe Moncloa. On the horizon you can see a panorama stretching from Parque del Oeste, Ciudad Universitaria, El Pardo, and even the Sierra de Guadarrama in the background. Tapas, drinks and great views — this could be the perfect ending to a memorable evening.

El Viajero Rooftop

In one of Madrid's most picturesque neighborhoods — La Latina — stands a three-story 19th-century building, an essential meeting point for the most avant-garde and bohemian Madrid. Sharing platters, beers, a variety of pinchos and quality products. Without a doubt, a different spot to enjoy great views of this fascinating city.

El Corte Inglés Callao Rooftop

Designed so that everyone gets to know its different gastronomy stalls, El Corte Inglés hides on the top floor of its Callao building an area called "Gourmet Experience", where a market atmosphere mixes with a fabulous panoramic view of Madrid's Gran Vía. It's a must if you want to take home that classic photo of Madrid's Schweppes building.

4 Terraza Room Mate Óscar

Find yourself between two skies — the one of its glass-walled pool and the blue of the city — on a very Ibiza-style terrace designed by Tomás Alía, with comfortable leather sofas, ambient music and Balinese beds where you can lie back and enjoy the moment. Chueca, the Telefónica building and other views are what you'll see from this spacious rooftop. Plus, the visit can be different every time, since it's full of cultural activities like microtheater.
